Institute of Mineral and Waste Processing, Recycling and Circular Economy Systems
At the Institute of Mineral and Waste Processing, Recycling and Circular Economy Systems, in particular at the newly created Chair for Circular Economy Systems (IFAD-CES) at Clausthal University of Technology, research is conducted in the three areas of technology, economy and ecology. To design modern circular economy systems, the (further) development of sustainable technologies and business models is supplemented by resource efficiency analysis and environmental life cycle assessment (LCA).
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christine Minke has a proven track record in the field of life cycle engineering. Based on mechanical, chemical and electrochemical process engineering, she and her team develop sustainability assessments for processes and technologies. In an interdisciplinary approach, she combines the potential economic and environmental impacts of technologies over their entire life cycle. In addition to global warming, resource efficiency and recyclability are in the focus of the quantitative sustainability assessment. These methodological approaches are applied on electrochemical energy storage systems, such as battery and hydrogen technologies.
